Who can enter the competition?This years competition is open to all schools/students throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. However, we are happy for kaiako/schools from other countries to join in with the online hui to learn about using game design to tell stories through the school's Curriculum.

Are the Rubber Duck Awards suitable for beginners to coding?The competition and programs, Microsoft MakeCode and Gamefroot, are suitable for beginners to learn coding. The course is easy to get started on and during the year you will receive guidance from our expert team in learning your favorite platform.

What's the best device to create my game on?Gamefroot works best on a PC or Laptop. However Chome books and iPads are also suitable. MakeCode can be used on any device, find out more here about the best device for you.

What age/year level is this most suited for?The competition is best suited for Years 5-13 in general, holiday program ages are best suited for 12 -17 year olds.

What are the registration dates timeline?Submissions for the 2022 awards open from Friday, 15 May until Thursday, 24 November. 2022 awards announced Friday, 9 December 2022.
